I finally got around to seeing the movie this weekend. The sound editing was spectacular and really helps to draw you into the action. The visuals...meh. I really wanted a good look at the monsters, but save a few glances at Godzilla and a brief look at Ghidora, the rest were partially left up to the imagination. They were either masked by rain, fire, snow or smoke. Then the scene would switch to people (ie. non-CGI mode) and everything was crystal clear. It made me feel like the CGI people took a lot of shortcuts and used grainy visuals to cover a less-than-perfect job. Other than that grand annoyance, I really did enjoy the movie. It was loud but fun.
