This novel was a big disappointment. I can't even say why I kept reading. It was the boring life story of a singer, who grew up in St. Louis, MO. We learn practically every street in this city in puzzling detail. Why? The protagonist, Jody Rattler, is determined to stay single though she has twenty-five (count 'em) affairs. There was nothing compelling or very interesting about her life of travel, writing songs, and time with relatives. Then the epilogue. What? A strange revelation had me reading it twice in disbelief. It was like a whole different story and a very disturbing one at that! I can't recommend this book at all
