As a Roman history, enthusiast, I can honestly say that this show is a well-executed mix of fact and fiction. The way that Rome is portrayed, it’s narrow streets, warring factions, and near religious obsession for chariot racing is very accurate. I also appreciate that the gladiators are portrayed as big burly individuals rather than Spartacus-style guys with six packs and chiseled chins.
Of course there is some fiction mixed in, but this is a drama and that is expected. Overall, the show is definitely worth watching and is a breath of fresh air when it comes to shows about Rome. The storylines mix together well and there’s plenty of action and intrigue.
Definitely check out this show!
