Madden 17 was a massive step forward from madden 16. Graphics obviously improved, but significantly. Gameplay got cleaned up. The biggest complaint in madden 16 was the aggressive catch. It did not get tuned properly and it was overpowered, especially with Odell. This year, it definitely improved. This is the last ever ignite engine madden game. After that, the physics era was over, and we got introduced to the frostbite engine. Unfortunately for og madden fans, the gameplay got worse. I don't why, but I felt like madden 18's gameplay was similar, but only worse compared to madden 17 or any ignite engine game before. Madden 19 introduced real player motion, and that made gameplay significantly worse. Anyway, madden 17's gameplay was really solid, or borderline great. Good presentation, it added Brandon Gaudin and Charles Davis. It was so much better than Jim Nantz and Phil Sims. I have to talk about franchise mode because it got some good stuff added. Weekly training got better as it gave you stats about your opponent and how much they ran a certain formation or type of play. They also added big decisions where you could set a season goal, cut players, decide to play an injured person who was cleared, or go with your backup at that position and not take that big risk. I don't really have anything to say about ultimate team because the servers are down for this game and I can't play it.
This game is amazing. EA tiburon truly made a gem of a game. Great gameplay, good franchise mode, decent ultimate team, I guess. "Madden 17 was the last great madden" mark my words
