deus ex machina

the first season was ok, 9/10 but the second season, my lord, one of the most stupid i have ever seen in my entire life. the actors are terrible, their actions bear no reasons at all, as if they did what they just did to irritate the viewers or to extend the minutes of the episode. the characters are always fighting even for the most benign of reasons - typical murikkkan storyline ALA Lost / Walking dead. the worst part, they tried to cannibalize the entire story by ripping out stable parts and introducing flavors of lesbian love-story, crime story and detective story. you just cant do that on a demonic film. if i want a lesbian storyline, i would watch Circumstance (2011) or GIA (1998) but i would never like it inside a movie like Evil Dead or The Mist. the attempt at playing chopsuey is so dumb, it is excruciating to watch, it sent me asleep even tho i already slept straight 9hours. introductions of new subplots are exploding everywhere but never having a closure. sample of these are the teleportation tree, the marriage, the radio tower, and many others. for fvcks sake, even the actors are looking for answers saying "what happened to the tower?". and just when it gets to hook you on a subplot [ex: talks of wedding while having an apocalyptic demonic outbreak, an episode that showcases drug addiction], the writers of the show deliberately cuts off your interest by either introducing a new subplot or totally abandoning the previous one by making one of their actors throw off a temper tantrum to derail the story and land it somewhere else. they failed miserably at doing the "cliffhanger" of suspense. the writers of season 2 should be sent to the gulag.

after 2 yrs, i read all the 1star rating from white people saying this movie is bad, unrealistic, "uncharacteristic" of that time, that white and black people are being portrayed as wild animals. it just means that the movie hit home-run against the conscience of rich, white folks. or maybe not. its not conscience but fear that the works of their ancestors and the wealth gathered from those works are being brought to light in a modern, story-telling way.

1)the story is a poor copycat attempt at the series "Lost Room" where a key that leads to everywhere is being chased by special interest groups. that key is also the only key to get to the "Lost room" where all other magical items can be found. ex: one that causes things to move, another that causes fire (similar to the fire key) and many more. the same thing goes in this series: there is a key that leads to everywhere and that there are magical items [keys in this series] that does special things and are also coveted by the 'bad guys' 2)compared to the "lost room" , locke and key is extremely boring at 70% of times. the story is extremely dragging. its like watching a bamboo shoot grow. the acting is ok, but the problem lies not in the acting. expectation: we are enticed to watch the series under the premise that we are going to see these lock and key thingy in action, what it does and where it all started. what the actual F*** is shown: 40% teenage / highschool love story intertwined with 30% parenthood story/plot mixed with 20% crime element and 10% lock and key. there is no suspense. the only suspense one would get would stem out of frustration that the story is being deliberately (or poorly) skirted away from the lock&key plot just so it can suspend the storyline. but that is not suspense, that is poor direction / poor writing. it also tries to spin up multiple sub-plots and attempts to bring them all together into one and big, intricate web of subplots. but the "bringing" is so miserable it causes mild stroke and migraine just trying to figure out where the movie direction really wants to focus. make some salad, ok. but you have to decide either fruit or vegetable salad but NOT both in one bowl. 3)verdict: good for kids ages 6 up
