I was looking for an entertaining show but wasn't sure what to expect with Doctor Odyssey. I actually enjoyed watching the different medical conditions that the medical team had to handle with a mix of soap opera, and maybe some self-aware campiness.
**Spoilers Ahead**
The initial episodes touched on the commercialization of wellness, body image in the first few episodes and I am currently on episode 4 - Halloween Week.
Joshua Jackson, Phillipa Soo, Sean Teale had great chemistry on screen. I would have preferred less emphasis on the love triangle but it seems to have evolved to just an acknowledgement that they are attractive people, working in close quarters, for long periods of time. It's not unreasonable eventually, one of them is going to be intimate with each other, or another crew member.
The show is was fun and entertaining enough, with a talented cast to warrant another season for further character development and shift the focus a bit more on the medical side of drama while keeping some of the humour. I hope there will be another season!
