Accidental Prime Minister is an interesting watch. It's not like it says any thing that we already don't know , but to see the political drama unfolding on the screen with real names taken , and with really good casting , it is quite a unique experience for the audience . I think the only character who did not resemble the person he was playing was Akshaye Khanna playing Sanjaya Baru, the author , Senior Journalist and adviser to the Ex Prime Minister Manmohan Singh , who seemed to have been bit glamourised , with real cool and dapper suits and Eye wear . Anupam Kher who played Mr. Manmohan Singh seemed a bit caricatured in the first few minutes , but brought in some layers to the character , as the story unfolded .He conveyed the angst of a man trying to do what's right for the larger good , but is inexplicably bound by his loyalties . I haven't read the book The Accidental Prime Minister , so I don't know how close is the narrative of the movie to the book . According to the author , he does not take any responsibility of the content of the movie , the movie makers claims that it is based on the book , the movie is most likely a piece of fiction based on real events , but since it takes real names, and has some real montages from news channels , it feels like a documentary ,but it should not be watched as such .The movie has a " House of Cards" esque appeal , not in terms of quality and content but in terms of narrative and should be watched as such and only for its entertainment value .I will go with 2.5 out of 5 stars .
