***SPOILERS***
Just so we all know, this is the first review I've ever left. I had to do this. The performances, great. The plot, completely unrealistic, illogical and entirely unconvincing. If you like that, then this is the movie for you. The movie artificially manufactures Marla's power (the main character), lacks realism, and is just a hard film to watch if you have any morals at all. The mafia in the movie is literally the most incompetent criminal enterprise every displayed in cinema history. Don't even get me started on the judge in this movie. He is completely corrupt to the point that it is just dumb, it's honestly insulting to the viewer. Not to mention that he obviously has a personal relationship with Marla, given that she goes to him for literally every singe case she has. And even when credible and convincing evidence is provided to him, Marla gets away with it by accusing her opponent with the exact same thing she is being accused of and the judge just eats it up. Literally a legal "nana nana boo boo". Also, as someone else said, the female empowerment is portrayed in such a horrible way. Honestly, I don't know who wrote this but it could've been a man who thinks this is what feminism is, or a woman who thinks feminism means belittling men and taking advantage of people. Either way, bad writing. Sorry but, this is the criticism you need. If I could rate this any lower, I would. I think it would actually have been better for the movie to kill off the main characters when anticipated rather than feeding us this garbage story of their miraculous recoveries and kill Marla off at the end, leaving the viewers completely unsatisfied. You would think that the ending would be such a great pay off, but the entire movie is so psychologically terrible that it put me in an emotional state in which I was unable to feel pleasure. The entire premise is that being brave is what makes someone powerful, yet the movie itself is weak.
