Good Morning All,
It's hard to take seriously the show 'The Voice' on political topics or any other serious topics while one of the longest standing 'voices' on the show are comedians. One of them regularly reminds us that she does not know what she is talking about, yet she makes sure to be one of the loudest voices stating her own opinions as facts or worse telling her tasteless jokes. Does she not realize that she appears to be and stand for much of what she despises about Trump? She is divisive, hateful, negative. I often turn the channel when she starts talking. This is unfortunate because I really like to hear the facts and opinions of Megan and I really hope her position on the show does help not hurt her political future as she herself hopes.
How does the View expect to be taken seriously with at least one of the regular speakers being a comedian? Having comedian(s) as a regular speakers hurts all the efforts women have put into being taken seriously as news moderators, as leaders, as being serious players on the world's stage or any other arena responsible for speaking for the many unheard female voices.
It's more than just the fact they are making jokes. It's that their jokes are extremely divisive, hateful, snobbish; everything the majority of people are trying to change about the world and no longer wish to hear. They are leading people to think it is funny to be divisive and hurtful; that if it is said in a joke, anything is acceptable to say. Sunny is also extremely negative in the same ways she despises trump for,
I would really like to see this show be in a position to be taken seriously; in a position to lead people on how to disagree without being ugly, divisive, threatening, offensive or deliberately hurtful. I don't see how comedians should be part of conversations intending to be taken seriously. Do women need to soften what they say or make their hard to say points utilizing jokes instead of facts like the men do?
Please, get rid of the comedian(s). Women do not need comedy to have serious conversations. And please, try to focus on how to have difficult conversations using strategies that will help show others how to have difficult conversations in the healthiest of ways, Be models for those watching you. Or do you maybe rely on comedians for the ratings? If so, this is maybe something to discuss on a show.
Best of wishes,
Cindy Shay
