A gripping but upsetting show. The passion of the young women Dolours and Marian Price and the crimes they commit in the name of the IRA is disturbing, but a measure of their commitment to the Cause. The depiction of the Troubles in 1970s & 80s is concerned mainly with the IRA’s summary justice of fellow countrymen and women who are perceived to be informants or ‘touts’. The most controversial aspect of the show is the denial of Sinn Fein leader Gerry Adams who consistently denied any involvement in the IRA. I loved the show because of its authenticity and fabulous acting, but my heart bled for all the innocent people who were killed and the injustice of the fact that many of the perpetrators (especially those who gave the orders) were never brought to justice.
