In modern cinema, any movie longer than the customary 1 1/2 hour has to be riveting to keep audiences interested. This one is 2 1/2 hours long, yet it barely contains material for a 1/2 hour TV episode. It reminded me of some awful flicks of the 1960s, when studios just crammed a bunch of famous actors with a nonsensical plot pretending to be a comedy, trusting that people would attend just to watch their favorite actors. But that doesn't work anymore in 2024.

The show is good, but can't. avoid the feeling it's a rerun of House with a female lead. Dr. Brennan is amazing at her job, but totally lacks ordinary human feelings. The only difference is, House saves lives while Brennan works with corpses. Also, the show pushes the boundaries of suspension of disbelief; I can see pathologists helping solve a crime, but all too often they do all of the work... the cop is more of a sexual partner for the rare occasion Brennan is interested...

You have to feel sorry for Bob Odenkirk. The guy is a great, versatile actor who rose to fame playing a character (Saul Goodman) who is all brain, zero fists. although he is surrounded by violent goons and is a criminal himself. You would expect him to get similar offers (not identical, he doesn't need to repeat himself, but along similar lines) Instead, he stars in this idiotic bloodfest on steroids. Without spoiling anything, he acts as a regular thinking human being for about 15 minutes, after which he turns into a raging killing machine. Coupled with a bunch of other characters who also reveal a surprising affinity for heavy firearms, what was looking to be a mediocre movie turns out to be an unmitigated disaster. By the way, Odenkirk is not alone here: the very good Russian actor Alexei Serebryakov, who starred in the great "Leviathan" playing a humble Russian done wrong by a corrupt system (not the Communist one, but the modern Russia of wealthy priests and wealthier politicians), is also reduced here to a gun wielding zombie.

Dumb and pretentious, the least bad moment from the first episode (which I couldn't even watch complete) feel like a bad drug trip. The worst ones feel like a student trying to cram as much semi digested philosophy into images. As for good scenes, there were none.
