Absolutely funny for the wrong reason, you can call this a Ghibli movie gone wrong
( since those movies have moments when you can look at the world and make it seem more real, like it exist- this movie had no such moments ......actually that was a bad comparison since I would be disgracing Ghibli movies).
It’s so rushed you can’t form any connection with the characters. Then that dragon. Her jokes and anything else she did got reeeeaall old reeeaall fast. And when she kept trying to do that 4th wall break through with jokes one could relate to BUT ITS SO OUT OF PLACED REALLY. I wanted to rip her head off,I was actually glad when she died near the end bc she finally. Stopped. Talking.
( but of course she came back hah).
I just wanna get this out of the way, those side characters , that baby, monkeys, big buff dude and boat child. I could care less if they were dead. I rather the story would focus on the main character then splitting the screen time to those characters. Maybe then I would give this movie at least three stars, but that obviously didn’t happen.
The only thing that was good that came out of this movie was the animation. Gorgeous. Stunning. Though that made me think that the sole reason for this movie was to flex Disney’s upgrade in animation not on their story writing.
I will say I laughed so hard when I started to see perverted jokes like the hand symbol that made a O. I thought of it as a gaping hole. Yes that’s right, a gaping hole. Finding moments where perverted things could be inserted was delightful.with those thoughts it allowed me to at least finish the movie cuz um, ok here’s a good clue that this movie was pretty trash.

When we had to go to the bathroom we didn’t pause it. That should say a lot about a movie.
