An unexpected delight. Reading this was like having a front row seat to a trainwreck. While a trainwreck is not a good thing, we all have that urge to stand a safe distance back and see it all. This trainwreck is the collision between the sins of yesterday and the consequences of today. Through some very relatable characters the author gives us a funny, heart breaking, emotional story of betrayal, love, and forgiveness. A reminder that sometimes hitting bottom, being broken, confronting the worst can bring about positive changes.

Hmmm .. I read it in no time at all. So it kept my interest. The author did a terrific job making the main character completely insufferable. Tones of Philadelphia Story starring Katherine Hepburn without the loveliness of Kate. Though the author does an excellent job in her research, the story is disconnected. The main character is set to live her life her way but quickly caves to her parents request that she marry. She is set in bringing her dream to life, but can't seem to see value in other people's dreams. Her inability to accept responsibility, give forgiveness, or have any depth makes the book, though interesting in the 1920s history, almost unbearable. The author did all that work and I just can't understand why she wasted it on Helen's story.

I've read worse. I expected better. It was border line fluff. The repetitive thoughts of the sisters. The beating around the bush even in the own thoughts is pointless. The over all story kept me hooked but it could have been said in 4 chapters.
