And here was me hoping for more David lore and exploring the engineers history. After the film was announced and subsequent trailers released, I had to let go of any hopes that would ever eventuate. Went to see it in theatres and give it a chance, left somewhat disappointed, but I can commend the film on it's visual effects and homage paid to the original Alien. At least it was better than 3 and resurrection! Please though, if Ridley is somehow reading this, don't let the Covenant story die in obscurity, you MUST continue that arc, it is simply too good to just throw away like that.

This was the most anticipated horror of 2024 by a long shot. What in the actual fuck did I just watch. I wasted an hour and a half of my life that I will never get back. Not even going to go into detail, watch the film for yourself. It's honestly more of a comedy than horror. I'm sorry but how in the actual fuck does this even come close to similar films e.g. silence of the lambs, seven. The acting was laughably bad, story was batshit insane and made literally zero sense at multiple points. I was expecting Conjuring levels of creepy spirit shenanigans but the film delivered hardly any scares at all, and when it tried, it just fell short every single time. Nic Cage was something else though, dear god. I haven't heard of him acting in anything decent for the last 10 years or so and now I can see why. This was the best role on offer? The man truly has retired, in spirit I suppose, though in body, he's still going. Time to call it a day I think if this is the best that's available at this late stage in his career. The ending made sense as the story comes full circle, you get to know the reason why certain things have happened, but the whole idea was lacklustre at best. The premise for the film to begin with is not good enough in my opinion to carry, fleshing out a whole feature length film around this loosely held together story did not pan out well. So much hype behind this and it's a massive disappointment. If you have that level of hype behind your project, you really need to deliver and safe to say Oz Perkins did not. I can't say I'm surprised. Paid seven bucks to rent this on Apple TV, big mistake.

One of the only reasons I still have a Netflix subscription.

This is just about as close to an interactive movie you can get and it's incredible.
