As a fan of the matrix I loved to be back at the matrix. Mild spoilers; This one is a love story and about Women’s empowerment which is great. There’s nods to lgbtq representation which is also great. The story is somewhat forced, there’s a lot of mental gymnastics happening here in maintaining why there needed to be another movie and why the storyline needed to continue. The CGI did all the old fun matrix tricks and there was one new trick however it was very cheesy and looked like old 90s low budget dream sequence slow-mo and really took me out of it. I was really hoping for the same trend setting “set the standard for years to come” type cgi, stylization, cinematography, and fashion like we got with matrix 1 and unfortunately none of that happened. However, it was so so so great to be back in the matrix, lots of fun. A must watch.
