The game is broken. 2k is too used to being able to push whatever they want out to us. They know people are going to buy the game regardless, so they don’t care what we say. They keep saying that the next gen game will be a total revamp. Why can’t players get what they pay for each year? We pay for a new game, yet we get a copy-paste game that was the prior year. They add a few new animations, new songs, change colors, and boom... a new game. So tired of 2k and game developers alike. This is why developers like Rockstar have such success. They build a new game entirely each time.
This year’s version sees horridly difficult AI to go up against. They say they’ve tweaked the gameplay to make it more realistic, but nothing feels realistic. The players are slow. No one can hit a jump shot from anywhere on the floor. It doesn’t matter how wide open you are, you will miss the jump shot nearly every time. AI defense is impossible to go up against. I’ve used different teams to test the gameplay, and I have found that my FG percentage stays around 30-40% from the field. My gameplay is from the inside out, so it doesn’t always consist of many 3PT opportunities. At halftime through 4 games, I am 1-23 from deep. I guarantee that 20 of the 23 attempts were wide open from a drive and dish. This game is absolutely broken.
2k has allowed broken game after broken game be released to the market, and now they are conveniently using the release of next gen consoles be their escape. 2k has zero competition in the basketball market, and they obviously know it. Instead of 2k considering what most fans say about their games, they hike up their price for the next gen game saying they think the price hike is worth the quality of the next gen game. Game developers like EA and 2k have been allowed to do as they wish for years because of the competition in the world of video games. It’s a sad day when game developers stop caring about what players are saying about their games. A sad day that has been going on for a while.
Wrapping this up, buy 2k20 for the exact same game other than a “new neighborhood”. It’s not that great. The same neighborhood, just formatted differently at a beach. You can get 2k20 for less money, and pray that next gen truly is a revamp of the series.
