I watched the first Silent Hill right before watching Silent Hill : Revelation and honestly it was a let down, I'm putting it out there that I did not play the video game, though I would like to.
It was nice to see that they kept the original actor of the father, and brought back the triangle metal head, aka Alessa's guardian and the short appearance of Rose, and I really liked the mannequin spider, that was cool, but that was the only really nice thing about this movie. I went into this movie thinking it would be a thriller/horror like the first one, but I was let down to see that it was more of a cringy romance plot than anything.
The plot of the first one movie was thrown out the window and they threw in so many new details to the movie, like the seal and relic disc thing and the blade woman at the end, that they should've just made a different movie for a different series, I think they would have had more luck doing that.
My last grudge with the movie, which may seem strange is the scene with the white nurses, while lover boy is strapped to the cart in the asylum....the nurses made noises, part of the reason why they were amazing in the first movie was because they didn't moan, they were silent and creepy, and they were attracted to light, not sound. That really stuck out to me and I know it is weird but it was one of my major gripes about the movie, besides the plot being trashed.
I can probably go back and rewatch it and write an essay on my gripes about the movie and what they should have done but I'd rather not waste another 95 minutes rewatching something I was disappointed about and cringed at because of the love plot and the dialogue.
If you've read this far into my review, congrats, I applaud you.
