An interesting book. The idea is well documented elsewhere but here very readable. Perhaps the flip side of this thesis is the sea routes developed by ship building nations like Britain Spain or Portugal. Both have lived side by side. Today world trade is dominated by sea routes used by huge sea container ships. Suez and Panama Canals have promoted this trend. Rising costs are an issue. Interesting that he includes desease with the Pandemic raging Worldwide.
