Despite the amazing performances by the cast, the artistic liberties taken with this movie were agonizing to watch. The screenwriters completely rewrote the deaths of every True Knot member, and even added deaths that never happened in the book. (Spoiler, Danny). The book enthralled me. The movie kind of made me want to punch screenwriters and anyone who funded it. Don't get me wrong. I understand that it's an adaptation of a book. Rewriting 85 percent of a book isn't rewriting it. It's blatant plagiarism. I would go so far as to ask the entire production crew to apologize to Mr. King for even putting his name on it. It wasn't Stephen King's "Doctor Sleep", it was Akiva Goldsman's "Ripoff of Stephen King's Doctor Sleep".
