I have never been a fan of Jordanian Drama, it has always been boring and unrealistic with cheesy scripts and dialogues.
then a new generation of actors, directors and producers emerged who received a great education abroad and introduced something to the drama scene that I never thought would change my point of view about local series/film productions.
this started with THEEB, followed by "AlRawabi School for Girls", THEN CAME, The Alleys....
I was really surprised how the plot and actors were able to grab my attention during the first 5 minutes of the movie ***SPOILER ALERT*** the main guy who was topless in a room with whom we thought at the beginning was his wife, then turned out to be his girlfriend, seeing them sleeping on that bed kissing and hugging in a bold scene that you never expect watching in a Jordanian Drama, finally revealing that this guy was only a boyfriend when he climbed out of the window when he heard the footsteps of his girlfriend's mom.
despite the local backlash of people claiming that the plot of the movie does not reflect local culture, my question to them, does it have to be?
regardless of what people say on social media, I truly believe "The Alleys" DOES reflect local culture in so many aspects, as when you go to east Amman you see things that are even worse than this, I was once in a place called "Al Jabal Al Akhdar" as par of a market visit for my employer and I was explicitly asked by locals not to walk in a certain street because there are looters, drug dealers and thugs who could and would harm me to steal my phone, wallet, watch and/or any earthly possessions I have on me regardless of their value...
anyways, back to the movie, I believe it's well done, the director, actors and the crew have brilliantly introduced a piece of art to the Jordanian drama that forever will be remembered by those who appreciate art and productions like this...
Good Job...
