I was super excited for the movie to come out. I was expecting something as epic as Aladdin, or maybe even like one of the Avenger movies!! Uhm...why did I end up getting a cheesy chinese action movie? Within the first few minutes of the movie, it gave me a clear idea of what the movie’s effects were going to look like: those chinese movies/dramas where they spend 3 seconds in the air just to do a lil kick? Not only were visual effects a bummer, but the acting and script were....just not there. The only maybe notable actor was the main male protagonist(the love interest I guess), but other than that, Mulan seemed so emotionless(The script was just too awkward, so that might be the reason). We just ended up getting a bit less than 2 hours of a girl living her soldier life with a straight face and one emotion: crying, again, with a straight face. Not to mention, the other characters just had no presence whatsoever. The original Mulan movie was able to develop these characters despite the fast pace. Mulan live action focused more on the bird witch lady than anyone else. Also, just something I noticed that weirdly stood out was the emperor. He seemed to be very strong, being able to catch arrows and stuff, but why was he tied up with exactly no emotion either. It looked as if he was bored and acting like he could've easily escaped. Also, whenever he spoke, he had weird “lip posture.” Not sure how to describe it but it just looked weird. Anyways that is my little ramble because I am just a tad upset paying $30 for the premier. Poo.
