You will love the Showtime version if you take the premise of the original story and place it in our current genre of apocalyptic science fiction. The backdrop of the Black family creates a new mood and allows the movie to flow into its new reality. The original movie was considered to be obtuse while this version has purposeful holes. In each case, it is to let the story unravel slowly. This is not David Bowie's movie but I still have him in my head and love the use of Bill Nighy. Where the script is weak the wonderful cast carries the story. I love Clarke Peters, Naomie Harris and to see Kate Mulgrew again.
