My wife and I decided to watch this movie on HBO plus…I am so thankful we didn’t waste money to view this in the theater. Vacuous humor, disjointed storytelling and paltry philosophical musings make this the worst movie of the franchise. A feeble attempt at girl power empowerment, this movie not only fails to tell us the story (instead of showing it), it leaps away from the logical reasoning that powered the fantasy world of the 1st and 2nd movies. Multiple times, all characters are able to survive unbelievable odds. Moreover, the antagonists are bona fide stupid and Mr. Smith is a pale, pale, pale version of the original in his fierceness, sinister, and unrelenting desire to dominate all because he could. Additionally, what they did with Morpheus is minimally, offensive: the one leading black male character in the previous movies was reduced into an amalgamation of characters and ended up a program instead of a person?!? Purest trash I’ve seen for awhile. Furthermore, Trinity metamorphs to Super Sayan levels for reasons unknown except to say GIRLPOWER! Hey, I love girl power stories that are done well but this was pathetic. Please, don’t waste your money nor empower the out of touch Studio Exec ideals by viewing this excuse for a movie. Farewell Neo, Morpheus and Trinity…I will honor you by remembering your presentations in the 1st and 2nd movies, and those alone.
