Not bad at all, just let down by being very BBCified. The adaptation is quite excellent, it's just bogged down by a bit of a hammy script, and the count starts as this superbly mysterious character that quickly devolves into a BBC cor bleedin' blimey type villain which just doesn't fit with the rest of the show. Just needed a bit more thought into the villains script as it felt a bit of an insincere villain cop out with naff one liners. Van Helsing keeps this show afloat, so well written and performed. Definitely worth a watch as the cast is unbelievably good, if it had just been a bit less obvious and adopted the less is more horror mantra it would have actually been quite terrifying.

It's OK. It's a bit overplayed, and a lot of the script will strike you firmly in the cringe bone. Big fan of Henry Cavill but the dark broodiness is so overplayed it feels they caught a LARP group on film. If they dialled it back a bit and played it with a bit more sincerity it would really shine. Entertaining but would be pleasantly surprised if people wanted more after this season.

The amazing opening scene flows into a really interesting premise, which then sadly descends into a less inventive storyline which is a huge shame as this has an awesome cast, they're just written very 1 dimensionally. It wants to be thought provoking but you are better off treating this as a switch-your-brain-off action type film.
