Eddie Redmayne does a decent job reimagining the jackal, however, there are many things in this show that are beyond belief. In the first episode, the "practice" shots directly above security and not being noticed by them or the hotel guests are implausible. Why does he blow everything up in the early episodes and wipe weapons down or use chemicals to hide his traces when in later episodes we find out MI6 has his fingerprints and DNA but can't find a match? Why would his sniper team's death be so classified that the top British agency is left in the dark? Why did nobody question why the bodies of two people on that team were never found?
Why do some distance shots take many seconds while others are "instant"? e.g., his first shot takes about 5 seconds to hit the target, but from a small boat (which is also highly unbelievable) it's almost instant from about the same distance over two miles.
The locations and filming are great, and the cast's acting is good. Eddie doesn't pull off being charming but certainly pulls off being a psychopath.
Overall it's not horrible, but requires you to sustain any logic or reasoning in the story and just "go along with it."
