Despite being a WW2 history nut, I found this film hideously boring. Very slow delivery, not a lot going on apart from a limp and distracting love story. Some questionable acting going on from the supporting cast too.
A shame, since I have been eager to watch this since I heard it was in production. But there's just too much stiff upper lip, upper class bimbling and an exaggerated & inaccurate plot. The old black and white original 'The man who never was' is a better option if you want to view a movie of this particular chapter of history.
The unnecessary over involvement of Ian Flemming, and an impossible to produce for the period (probably even now) James Bond style gadget watch is just foolish. Finally, the generous sexual acts a British naval officer dishes out during his acts of espionage are a very odd and easily omitted inclusion.
