Great music mixed into a surprising Film Noir genre! I was surprised to hear "F U" by a drunk early in the film. Didn't know you could say that in a 1941 film. Love Priscilla Lane. Wonder if Jack Carson was really playing the trumpet. If so, that was a big surprise. The acting was fabulous. Only thing keeping it from being a 5 star review was a couple of racist moments. One corny big band song near the end mentioned "Brownies" and another racist moment was when a white man said "Massa" (Master) in an obvious reference to a comman film racist remark by many blacks during that era of the 30's and 40's films.
s. Other than that, I highly recommend this movie and the black and white cinema appears to have been restored to perfection.
