This show has so much more potential than it's putting forward. The premise of the show is great with a bunch of teenagers stuck in an apocalyptic world but the main things that hold it back are the laziness of the writing. The way the teenagers are written is honestly terrible. It's clear that they sort of tried to use satire in the dialogue to sort of make fun of the teenagers, but it comes off as more of being written by people that are very far removed from what teenagers actually say and think. It's clear that the teenagers were written by adults, and they don't feel like teenagers. Also the fact that each character has their own little niche and the characters hardly overlap shows how herd they were trying to make the main character seem unique when in reality the only relatable character is Josh since he is more of an average teenager than everyone else who has some annoying trope that no one can really relate to. The most annoying part of the show is probably the little girl Angelica. She feels so forcefully shoehorned into the show that it isn't even funny. They try and make her a badass, strong, female character, but instead of coming off as any of that she comes off as more of a pretentious bratty prick. She is probably one of the worst written characters in any TV show that I've ever watched. Though suspension of disbelief is important when trying to enjoy a new show or movie, I honestly cannot rely on that with all of the present plot holes, lazy writing, and terrible characters. One last thing that isn't as big of a deal for me but is still pretty annoying is how preachy some of this show seems. There is a lot of political commentary and social justice sort of feeling quotes and moments that make the show annoying to watch. Honestly, is it that hard to just make a show that isn't trying to be woke with political commentary that doesn't even have anything to do with the story? Overall, I like the idea of a bunch of teenagers being put into an apocalyptic wasteland, and the show has lots of potential, but the poor execution of this show by the writers is such a shame.
