I wrote a whole essay but if you're debating on whether to watch it, PLS DO!!
10 MFING STARS!!! I adore this show. It was hilarious, heartfelt, and emotional!! Hwi-Oh and Min-Kyung's relationship was so amazing to see. They weren't perfect, they hated each other in the beginning and carried assumptions that hurt one another until they got to bond. They sought to understand each other with respect to their situations. As someone who's most memorable class was about Interpersonal Violence, I am very content with the way the topic was handled in this show. It showed the mental/emotional/physical effects abusive relationships can have on the survivor, even after the relationship is over. I especially loved how they attacked the stigma against what abusers look like (ep 11 or 12 addressed this). Also loved Samantha's character and how other characters' opinions about her changed after HwiOh pointed out their prejudice/discrimination and harmful assumptions. The way the women's assocation apologized and stayed calling her Samantha after that <333 THE RESPECT SHE DESERVED!!!
Hwi-Oh put toxic masculinity to shame with the way he was so openly emotional with his feelings about Minkyung. So refreshing to see!!! Minkyung such a strong character. I'm so glad she didn't settle and that we were showed the lengths the abuser's party would go through to make that happen. This happens irl!!!
ANYWAYS IM DONE. I LOVE THIS SHOW. I WILL BE WATCHING IT AGAIN. HWI-OH X MIN-KYUNG FOREVERRRR 💞💞
