The book, although slow at first, is a fantastic piece that goes to show the excess and selfishness present on Wall Street during the 1980s. If you're someone with a weak stomach to violence or racism then this book is not for you as it contains many frequent and descriptive murders that many readers may find unsettling. The book was banned by many schools and many of the publishing companies that Ellis went to refused to publish it because of the gore and racism. Some may not enjoy how detailed and slow everything is described in the book but I did. I really enjoyed how many paragraphs were used to just describe the clothing of various characters in the book and even learned some things about the 1980s. All in all, I would say that this is a book that isn't for the faint of heart. But if you're able to overcome that, the book is a wonderful psychological thriller and one that is still referenced/relevant in today's culture.
