Quirky and cool. Once you adjust to the nature of how the songs fit into the story (this isn't Rodgers and Hammerstein!) all is pretty smooth going. Particularly after the unexpected tragedy moves the viewers expectations into uncharted territory. Many of the songs are pretty wonderful in a way that only the French can master. Loosen your moral boundaries and cinematic expectations for this one and it's more than worth it.
