Fantastic level of suspense, loved it up until the mom was taken; it really had me believing I had found a gem on Netflix! After the mom was taken, however, it was very disappointing. Everything went down hill from there; there was a level of cheesiness I almost gagged at when the killer was like “I’m the darkness,” and needless elements were added such as the little girl waking up while laying on the grass, and the fact that the killer took SO LONG to do anything. I found myself thinking, “god he’s taking forever.” And how did the little girls contribute anything; why have them in the movie if you are just going to hear them cry and add a little suspense? The writers could have done so much more with them. Also, how was the axe to the side not a kill shot, with arteries and vital organs, or even, dare I say, blood loss? I don’t usually leave reviews but this movie was so good and just trailed off, like the writers/producer got suddenly impassionate and the plot just fell apart. Close but not there. However, I have to say, the actress who played the mom was amazing (she was a bit of the saving grace) and the poisonous cupcake with the “hello” was a good touch, if only the writers had followed with the story line of the poison, it seemed to just be forgotten. Anyway, almost a good movie. If you’re looking for something good in the horror/thriller genre on Netflix, I suggest “Hush.”
