As a History major going In the great big asterisk about it being mostly true should clue you in that it is a comedy, not a factual account. It is very vulgar but again people are vulgar is it is well documented that the kings of all of Europe were pretty vulgar spectacles of wealth and excess. If that does not bother you it can be funny, weird, and sad. I enjoyed it and now have a new set of little sayings.
