It's ambitious and I like that in a movie however it lost out on a 5th star for me over the special effects. James Cameron's Avatar was released in 2009 and granted Shin Godzilla may not have had near the budget of that film however it's been eleven years since then and I can't believe better effects were out of reach for this production.

Easily THE worst movie I've ever seen. The plot was ridiculous. The dialogue was atrocious. JJ Abram's was clearly only in it for the payday with that overdone quick speak back n forth between the characters that failed miserably throughout the movie and destroyed any chance of the actors developing any sort of chemistry between them. The story....omg, ok let's see. Go find this mcguffin and blow up that mcguffin all the while disregarding all logic, physics and common sense. Finally and for good measure, throw in a twist that negates the trials and tribulations of every character in the first eight films and rendering them completely useless to the overall plot. Make no mistake, I get that Disney sees the Star Wars movies as giant commercials for their merchandising and theme park investments however the problem is that they've hired people that know they're making commercials therefore deep down, they don't really care and unfortunately it shows. In closing, fans of Star Wars should watch it if for no other reason than it is the conclusion of the series but your crazy if you spend money to do it. After all, commercials are and should forever be, free to watch.
