I cannot say anything about the veracity of Lazar's history, but what i can say is that this documentary was terribly produced. That annoying old man's voice showing up every 5 minutes talking nonsense trying to sound philosophical some way; the bad editing, the bad overall quality; the necessity of filling up some gaps with random images. But really, that old dude's voice was the worst thing.
