A Great read in my humble opinion. I Love the first book and looked forward to this one. Yes, there were loads of the 80's references to take in, although sometimes too many. The imagination used to compile an develop those references into another quest not to mention the reason for the quest and it's intensity is extraordinary. The details did drag on a little in moments but it does paint a picture clearly for the imagination. I don't understand or agree with the negative reviews of this book, but to each his/her own.
The idea behind the use of ONI and the consequences of actions taken by Wade bring new meaning to the idea that money can't buy happiness, and that even rich people are still human enough to screw things up. Cline does a great job of fleshing out the pros and cons of AI and the "should we?" in this imaginative story. All in all I liked it and would recommend it to others.
