This was a good movie, that was a fun and easy watch. While it wasn't as good as the book, when is a movie ever? Considering the book itself is nearly 100 chapters long, you can't be surprised when parts of the plot are cut out or seem rushed.
Like anyone, I do have some criticism. As can be expected when the storyline is shortened, a lot of character development was left out. Not only that, but some key character traits from the book never even appear. Movie Hardin is a very watered-down version of book Hardin. It is understandable, though, because it would be nearly impossible to fit the immense change he goes through in the book into the movie. While I'm disappointed that Hardin was not the same Hardin I fell in love with in the books, this version of Hardin is swoon worthy in his own right.
So, despite a few things that did bother me, I knew going into the movie that it would not be the same as the book, and I'm not lying when I say my expectations for the movie were exceeded. As far as book-to-movie translations go, this one does a pretty good job. I really enjoyed the movie, and will definitely be seeing it again. I'm hoping for a second movie!
