Prof Edward Newman no doubt, has demonstrated his indebt research, knowledge and analysis of conflict and violent conflicts, their origin, and nature. he has his style of writing and the generic sources and metamorphosis. most important how ever, is his ability to be an optimist in an ever fast changing world that is loosing identity which affect nationalities and domestic security and migration.
His examples of civil wars in Japan, 1877,America,1861,Liberia 1989, Bosnia 1992 and Sri Lanka 1983 all have one thing in common. Human beings by nature are conflictual over divergent interest, this has the tendency of declining, with time, while new wars emerge.
Containing, ending and resolving civil wars constituted his last argument in his very succinct book which i cherish to read again and again and again with clear evidence and historical records. while some wars can be ended, much others can only be resolved with effective appeasement and efficient supervision to deescalate their transformation as they have future capacity to reincarnate within some regions that inherit civil conflict and strife!
it is a privilege to read this very outstanding book that adds much value to scholarship and intellectualism in a very fast changing global world disorder.
