I was so excited for this movie, as Mulan is my second favourite Disney princess movie after Brave, but now I’m bit disappointed. I did not mind it is not musical, but it expressionless and tensionless. I did not feel the weight of the actions on the characters. They try to go more realistic but they still go to magic and other stuff, because of that now I feel the story and the action scenes in animated one are more realistic. What made the 1998 special is her hero arch journey in the movie and the burden she had to endure while in disguise or even when she was exposed. I felt the new witch character has a better hero journey than all the other characters. I feel they did not understand what makes the 1998 Mulan special and engaging.
