Marakkar(NOT A REVIEW)- With foremost importance to emotions, this period drama is a visual extravaganza
Starting with a personal thought, I was restraining myself from writing about this movie due to various reasons of my own. But browsing social media and various other review channels (which forced me to check my self consciousness of whether I really liked the movie), I had to change my mind.
From the review headline, do I mean that this is the best movie ever created from malayalam industry? Definitely not. But is the movie worth any value? Yes, for sure and hence this personal take.
This is not a review and so let's make it really simple. With top-notch special effects and making, commendable art work and impeccable performances, this emotional drama, though with a "cliched" storyline and screenplay, stands out as the best technically made visual treat that Malayalam movie world has ever created.
While Priyadarshan adds his imagination to fill the gaps between known history of Kunjali Marakkar, the screenplay definitely becomes predictable. But as a master craftsman, he has done a decent job in executing the same.
Otherwise an average outing is lifted to its prime with the help of a strong technical department. Given the constraints of this developing industry, this craft of technical brilliance is something that needs to be acknowledged.
Ofcourse there could be scope to jot down negatives and positives for this venture based on various perspectives. But please do give it a try in theatres to atleast witness the growth of Malayalam Industry and then feel free to love or hate this one.
Recommended for theatre watch.
NB: I liked this one and beleive to be entitled to my opinion.
