Most people will disagree with me here, but I strongly dislike The Shining. I read the original novel by Stephen King and absolutely loved it, so I decided to give the movie a shot. They basically disregarded the entirety of the novel. They mostly ignore Jack's dark past or mention it minimally and change it compared to the novel. Tony is a talking finger all of a sudden, Jack starts insulting and abusing Wendy quite early on, etcetera. Changed the entire premise of the story, it's not even that scary, the movie makes little to no sense because nothing is explained properly, I could go on. I think this movie definitely wasn't worth watching. Read the novel instead.

First of all, I'm appalled by the amount of 5-star reviews. They're probably fake from the looks of it and/or were written by neurotypical people. The lack of research, the collaboration with Autism Speaks, and the casting of the neurotypical Maddie Ziegler are problematic as well as the bright colors and strobing lights that can cause sensory overload or epileptic seizures for people watching the movie. That's not my main issue with this movie. The restraint scenes in this movie can lead to dangerous behavior from other people. There will be people watching this movie who will think that the right way to calm an autistic person down is by PINNING THEM DOWN ON THE GROUND. First of all, NEVER calm someone down by forcefully holding them down. Second of all, there have been instances where autistic people have DIED because people held them down by essentially crushing them by lying down on top of them. Scenes like this and inaccurate representation in the media can lead to more instances where people will die because of misinformation. Please do not watch this movie because even hate-watching it will result in Sia getting money.

This movie is so inconsistent with the first one. In the first one it is stated that Donna first meets Sam, then Harry and finally, Bill. In this movie, she first meets Harry, followed by Bill, and later Sam. Donna's mom is dead in the first movie but alive in this one, the looks (in terms of clothing etc) and personalities of the three men don't match up with what is siad in the first movie, etc. The fact that they changed so much just ruined it for me.
