Watching this series required my 100% attention and focus. The series creator implemented a 'show, don't tell'. Hence why I didn't get bored throughout all 8 episodes.
The story is simple but layered and complex for blending two stories for the same occurrence (murder). Two men suffered the same fate but different circumstances from each other.
I'm starting to notice that Korean like to make their films layered and complex with characters and stories are blended and intertwined with each other across different times. We, as a viewers, somehow feels like it's something new and original. However, this methods of storytelling will suffer from confusion and misunderstanding for some viewers.
Despite innovative ways of telling stories, The Frog is a basic 'Dude With A Problem' type of story based on Blake Snyder's Save The Cat book. An ordinary character find themselves entangled in an extraordinary situation and they must solve the problem, of course at a greater cost.
Above all, I do enjoyed the series. It's entertaining and exhausting at the same time.
