Let us start with a little rehab before I get into how terrible this movie is.
Avatar: The Last Airbender, or ATLA, was the attention for many Nickelodeon fans. It was well, unique. At first, it did not get much attention, but grew eventually and became a smash hit. The episodes were eye catching, with goofy characters and a simple plot. It was a simple yet fine masterpiece.
Then came along this movie.
They had almost every character in the movie. They were missing Toph, and other people, but I had hope that this movie would represent the great series that once starred on Nickelodeon.
This was not the case.
First off, the character's personality's were completely wiped. They went from Aang being unafraid and courageous, to him being a scared little boy, with barely any courage. Sokka, the leader and the mastermind, always had a plan or an idea. He was the one who set up the jailbreak from the Boiling Rock. He was the one who able to save the day from the old man he protected. He did much more, but I cannot remember every single one of them. All this, and the creators decided to turn Sokka into a boy with no hope, who does not have faith in his ideas, and who doesnt have the courage we all know and love.
Again, there are more issues. This may even seem picky, but the scar that Zuko has is not fully visible. It might seem like nothing, but the whole reason that Zuko was chasing the avatar, all the devotion, determination, and experience, was through that one scar. He wanted his honor restored, yet realized his honor cannot be restored, but given back to him through hard work and devotion.
Disrespecting a series with a movie like this would be like making LOK into a movie, and making a clean state, with new characters that are based off the old ones, and it is difficult to even forget the old ones.
Overall, this movie is terrible.
