As a huge Star Wars fan, I went into Star Wars Outlaws hoping for a fresh, engaging experience that would capture the essence of the galaxy far, far away. Unfortunately, the game fell short in ways I couldn’t ignore, leaving me disappointed. The storyline, while aiming to bring something new, felt incredibly safe. The characters lacked the depth and complexity I expected from a Star Wars title, and the overall narrative was bland, as if the writers were afraid to take any real risks. This lack of bold storytelling made it hard for me to invest in the game's plot.
The gameplay mechanics didn’t help either, as the controls felt clunky and awkward, especially in combat. The lag in response time was frustrating, particularly during intense scenes, and the cover system was more of a hindrance than a help. These issues constantly pulled me out of the experience. To make matters worse, the missions quickly became repetitive. It felt like I was doing the same tasks over and over with little variety, and by the halfway point, playing felt like a chore rather than an adventure.
Graphically, the game was inconsistent. Although some cutscenes looked impressive, the in-game visuals were disappointingly average. Even on newer consoles, I noticed frame drops, and some textures looked like they belonged to a previous generation. Exploration was also limited, which was a huge letdown for me. While Outlaws promised a vast, open-world experience, it felt restricted and scripted, lacking the immersion I had hoped for.
In the end, Star Wars Outlaws didn’t deliver the galactic journey I was looking for. It had potential but needed more polish, a tighter storyline, and better mechanics. While die-hard fans might find some enjoyment here, it’s not the Star Wars experience I was hoping for.
