We just finished this amazing series and I have to say that this is one of the best British crime drama series I've seen!!! The acting, scenery and storyline draw you in, like the characters are real. I could almost feel what they were feeling in certain scenes. A must see for anyone who enjoys intensity and something different than crime drama's that tell the same story over and over. Far better than some of the US "cookie cutter" series. Fabulous!!!

As the British would say, this series was quite "Smashing"! Terrific acting by Claire Foy and Paul Bettany who pull us into the drama of their dysfunctional marriage. This juicy series is packed with infidelity, backstabbing, secrets and lies. Great entertainment!

Gritty, gripping and great series...very dark. The story is told from both sides:. that of a serial killer and law enforcement. This series actually takes you into the mind of Peter/Paul, the serial killer. It goes deep, far beyond what most series like this delve into. I watched Mindhunter, and this show goes away beyond it. Some viewers said that it got drawn out too far, lagging at the arrest, but I believe there were good reasons why (without revealing spoilers). The sexual nature of the crimes go away back into Peter/Paul's childhood and reveal some very hainous acts. A child's mind poisoned from a young age. On the other side is high-ranking, Stella Gibson, police detective in charge trying to solve murders and put Peter/Paul in prison. She is driven beyond what is required of her and seemingly fascinated with Peter/Paul and disgusted by him all at once. She refers to him as a "contagion" at one point. I believe this series is more than a crime drama and way more than a show about a sadistic serial killer who is sexually motivated. It's a study into the human mind, behavior and human beings at their breaking points. It goes into the dark places of the mind and heart. Definitely worth watching!!!

After reading other people's reviews, good and bad, I decided to watch the entire series anyway. Overall, I thought it was a terrific, and yes, dark themed show. I've only really known Stana Katic from the Castle series, which I loved, despite the differences she and Nathan Fillion had. I thought the build up of the story/mystery surrounding who the ultimate "bad guys" were was great. Yes, some of the storyline was over the top, but this is TV we're talking about, not real life. The acting overall was good, some actors better than others, but you have to put the acting in perspective with the type of show. This is not Academy Award material, but I wanted entertainment, and got just that. Season 3, in my opinion was awesome, and I don't want to say too much, hence a spoiler alert. Now to the ending...I hate stupid endings in a series that I've become find of, and this one did not disappoint. If you want a drama/crime show with pure entertainment, this is your show!!!

Wallander was terrific!!! My first Swedish crime show, and it didn't disappoint. Kenneth Branagh's acting is just outstanding, especially towards the end of the show. The scenery is amazing as well...makes you want to go to Sweden for a vacation! Now I have to watch Young Wallander to see the comparison between the two shows.

LOVED THIS SHOW!!! SPOILER ALERT: TERRIFIC acting, storylines, and beautiful English countryside. Extremely well put together British crime show! Wish they had done more seasons. Watch this show, as everything builds on itself throughout the seasons. You won't be disappointed. Alan and Annie, what can you say? Two souls who are dedicated to Police detective work, and lose so much in the process. I wanted to blame both characters for what happens in the end. But isn't that how life works sometimes.

My boyfriend and I loved this show! Idris Elba it's a different kind of actor chosen to play an unusual detective. The acting was excellent, the cast well-chosen. We loved to hate the Alice character, and Ruth Wilson played this narcissistic woman perfectly! Honestly, the only downside was the ending.

All I can say is I LOVED this show, and will miss it...WHAT???...no season 5. The acting, story lines and everything were just fantastic!!! Sometimes I think the British have an edge over us Americans on crime dramas!

My boyfriend and I LOVED this show!!! We are crime drama fanatics and got roped into this series fairly quickly. We finished all 4 seasons and wanted more! The acting is just outstanding, the scenery is just gorgeous, and the filming/editing is great as well. The way the story is written makes you feel empathetic towards some of the characters, and we found ourselves feeling their ups and downs. We watched Marcella and thought she was intent, but Sarah tops her anyway. Sarah and Linden keep you on your toes, and the writers keep you guessing right up to the end! Fantastic!!!

Love this show, and Marcella with her ups and downs. Very dark, yet entertaining and great acting in my opinion!!!
