I think 3.9 is accurate at the time of this posting. This movie is unique even if a bit wildly unbelievable. That is part of the fun of Sci-Fi though. Tom Holland is the loveable kid in everything he does. I find him adorable like a toddler son. I do worry he will be forever type cast as that guy, but it could be worse. SPOILERS AHEAD - This film is has an interesting take on landing on a new planet, and they touch on the natives of them planet, but never really finish the thought and seem like they abandoned the plot line for a shorter run time. They show this village and Tom Holland fights one, stabs it a dozen times and it walks away because it sees a woman. THEN WE NEVER SEE OR HEAR ABOUT THEM AGAIN?!?! I NEED TO KNOW MORE. Why didn't it get hurt from a dozen knife wounds? Why was it missing an arm? At that point in the movie you don't know that the mayor of Prentice Town murdered the women, not the natives in a battle. As for the noise, it goes unexplained on why it effects men not women. Maybe something to do with the natives? We will never know. Daisy Ridley does a fine job but this movie really wasn't built for strong acting and they let the plot carry the payload. I found the Jonas boy annoying. His over acting of a redneck inbred was too much. Also the Mayor seemed a bit too see through even though his power was hiding his noise. Finally, the Preacher or Clergy? Some religious zealots that have a flame like noise? He killed Tom Hollands dog! You F@$ker! I need to know more about this religion and less about the mayor and his female issues. Not a bad watch!

This movie is just ok at it's core. Zombie movie over stylized to give a feel of 300 mixed with Dawn of the Dead. Which is fine and fun and cool. But let's not overhype it because it is a film from Zachy boy over there. I think there were a few plot holes and maybe they were left on the cutting room floor. SPOLIERS COMING - I questioned why Batista's character's daughter would be so quick to leave behind the same kids she wanted to protect to search for the mom but also risking herself and the kids having no one then. She should've stayed behind but I get it. Character building blah blah. Seemed like a weak excuse to put someone else in peril and add drama. There was one throw away line about getting on a bus when the guard was accosting the young females. I feel like it was added in post because they never fleshed out how those survivors were getting out when the bomb dropped. Also, they wouldn't move up a nuke blast 24 hours like that. So much of stretch that I pulled a muscle watching it. The movie was also too long. This should've been cut shorter and edited cohesively or made a mini series to flesh out more details that were left out. Zombie flicks are kind of passé at this point too, and this didn't really do anything outside of the box to change that. Fun, if you like zombie movies and mindless gore. Just Ok as a film.

I am not sure why I didn’t watch this show sooner. I am a Marvel guy. Batsy and Supes don’t do it for me. But DC has some off the wall characters like these that are gems. I’m not sure how much of this show is true to comic but it is amazing. The character depth and torment is at a forefront with a focus on mental health. These flawed characters reflect parts of ourselves. But they also offer a wealth of feeling and emotion with them. This show has been phenomenal. I am so surprised and amazed by it. I highly recommend it. One of the only good things to come from the pandemic is the finding of gems like this because you ran out of your “normal” stuff to watch. Go watch this. You will not be disappointed. Brandon Fraser is the right guy for this role.

This movie wasn’t bad. In today’s time when struggling to find new content to watch, I feel like this had some good ideas in directions to take “super hero” movies. I feel like the good ideas didn’t translate on screen and left you wanting A little of each. The acting was not my favorite. The powers were intriguing and had some dark back stories. Worth a few bucks on amazon.

I don’t need you to try and justify this movie with big words and fancy artsy terms. It’s just a bad film. Yes some shots are done very well and match the dark and bleak tone of the movie. But that’s the only good thing in this film. The story drags at a pace at which a snail would lap it. They beat you over the head with feminism, how men hold women back, and how children are a burden. That’s it. They took an old tail and politicized it. I’m not against female empowerment, I have three daughters, but It is exploitative to poorly adapt a timeless classic to meet your own agenda. All could’ve even been forgiven if the movie was at least decent. Well, it isn’t. Much like Midsommar, you wonder where the last hour and so of your life have disappeared to. Not even a thriller or a horror film and more closer to a lifetime movie drama. Wait until it’s free to stream.

I know this movie seems like it was about Daddy Issues and I get that. But I think it goes deeper to the point his father found out. His father considers the mission a failure because they didn’t find any life. Roy said the mission was success because they now know that each other is all they have. This leads me to see that people are often looking out ward and away for the things that are often in front of them the whole time. While looking for life elsewhere, he abandoned the life he had. Looking for life everywhere but where he knew it existed.
