Let me start by saying I love Lin and all of his works on Broadway Which was why I was completely disappointed with the movie. It did stay true to some of the songs but the movie also took out a lot of the important scenes from the Broadway show. For example the original play basically centered around Nina and Benny but because a majority of there scenes were cut out beenys character was kind of useless but I was really upset at how they did the blackout scene because when I saw it on Broadway it was intense and iconic and pivotal point in the shell but the whole scene just felt rushed and really didn’t “give what it was supposed to” Lastly the lack of actual representation I don’t even feel like I need to go into detail but it did kind of pissed me off the a majority of the afo-Latino representation from the original cast was cut to background dancers: Iam mostly disappointed because the movie was mediocre compared to the real thing but nobody is saying it because of who produced it. Like I said I love Lin but for the amount of time they had to work on this movie they really missed the mark for me
