You know the meme about a work meeting that could have been an email? This is a series that could have been a two hour film. I've always liked Mike Flanagan. Zach Gilford is such an underrated actor. I've adored him for years, but everything about this series was exhausting. I understand what it was trying to do. I understand it's exploration into religion, but it did nothing for me. What was meant to be chilling, at times, had me chuckling. I just feel this was a giant miss. By the beginning of the fifth episode, I was annoyed that I'd wasted so many hours of my life and fast forwarded through most of the final two episodes. I have no idea HOW so many people are raving about its brilliance. Huge opportunity missed, I think. Could have been written better and executed better. Gilford is the only redeeming thing about Midnight Mass.
