Nightflyers had potential. I can say that much at least. I've watched all the episodes to this point, and will watch the finale, but I can't really recommend it beyond a novelty, something to fill up those moments of TV watching that have nothing better to offer.
My critic is largely about the script and the huge lack of any kind of cohesive bits. Yes, it's a sci-fi, horror, fantasy, etc. show, but at least make it something that I can follow, or believe, to the extent that when a character is in mortal danger they actually do what one would do in that situation, like run...lol.
Instead, throughout the series, we get characters, and scenes, that aren't cohesive. They do things that have zero added value, and actually lessen the impact of what might have been a very good moment in the show.
I'm a fan of sci-fi horror, and I believe that the best movies in this genre take that idea and mix it with common sense human behavior, or as close as one can get, in the midst of fantastical situations. When a "thing" is about to murder you, you don't zone out and take a vacation in your head for several minutes. You do what we can all relate to, or what we might wish we could do.
