Does not even come close to capturing the magic and essence of the books. It fell flat on its face, and did not possess the strength to get up and carry on.... Not worth a second watch. The only pleasure was wishing that Matthew McConaughey would break out his signature "Alright! Alright! Alllrrriigghhttt!" at opportune moments during the film. No luck there either. So. Meeeehhhhhh....
